Fishing & Dive Reports

Brian Hayes of Nashua NH  holding two of his many haddock

April 30, 2004

Tip-N-Ring headed out of Brewers Marina in Plymouth today.  The Marine forecast was calling for a small craft advisory with SW winds 15-20 Kts with gusts to 25 Kts.  Seas were rough but the fishing was very productive to the East side of Stellwagen Bank  in depths of 150- 180.  Mixed sizes of Cod, and Haddock fell for the Norwegian jig and teasers,  as most of the cod were taken on clam.  Water temps are slowly rising, as of today we were up to 45 degrees.

May 9, 2004

Tip-N-Ring will be at Brewers Marina here in Plymouth for one more week then we head over to our summer  spot  at the Pier @ Cordage in North Plymouth.  Fishing today was very productive, bringing much larger fish then the past two weeks.  We brought over the rails two cod over 20 lbs. with more haddock also showing up.  The fish seem to be bulking up on herring and sand eels.  Today we worked the South East edge of Stellwagen Bank, and moved into deeper water after the tide changed.  Jigs out fished bait today 2 to 1, with most of the strikes coming on the jigs in lieu of the teasers.  Winds today were out of the SW blowing 10-15 Kts with seas 3-4 feet.

Alan Swartz of Barnstable MA & Al Sopyla of Duxbury MA holding some nice "bugs"

May 31, 2004

We had to cancel our charter for Alan & Al the day before due to a strong NW wind but today we could have not asked for better conditions.  Tip-N-Ring left the dock at 8:30 headed for South Plymouth to the Mary Ann's for some bug and fish hunting.  Water temps today were 57 degrees surface with a bottom of around 53 degrees.  Visibility was around 12-14 feet with little or no current making for a great dive!  Winds were out of the East and were light and variable.  The two veteran dive buddies teamed up today for two dives which were very successful bringing in both flounder and lobsters to feed there family's that evening.  Both Alan & Al are two very experienced divers and were a pleasure to have on board, and we look forward to seeing them again this summer with as much success!
